Motorists heading into Coventry along a busy road are being warned that they face months of traffic chaos when major roadworks start in the area.

A stretch of Walsgrave Road is to be closed for eight weeks from Monday 5 February.

Coventry City Council are re-building the road, replacing kerbs, footpaths and replacing trees that are causing damage to pavements and houses in the area.

Engineers are warning that the road between the Forum roundabout and Harefield Road will shut during this time to allow work to take place quickly and safely.

A diversion will run around the area via Sky Blue Way, Binley Road, Brinklow Road and Clifford Bridge Road.

Bus services along Walsgrave Road will use Clay Lane, Stoke Row and Dane Road.

Access will be kept open to roads and houses near the affected area.

A city council spokesperson said:

“We appreciate that there will be some inconvenience during the work and every effort will be made to minimise the disruption.”
