Lotus To Create Up To 150 New Jobs In Coventry
More
than 100 new jobs are to be created at in Coventry by sports car
manufacturers Lotus when expanded facilities are opened in the city.
A
new design studio and workshops are to be built at the former MSA site
on the A45 in Allesley to enable the Coventry operation to take on
more projects.
Lotus
bought the site two years ago to give it a foothold in the Midlands at
the heart of the automotive industry.
Once
the structural changes are complete Lotus will have the capacity to
have up to 250 staff working there.
The
company is expanding the facilities so it can take on a range of
projects from prototype development and engine tuning to complete
vehicle design and build, as it did recently with the Vauxhall VX220.
Spokeswoman
Sandra Hayashi said new recruits would be taken on as the company won
new contracts.
She
said:
“The
changes are being made in Coventry because if we’ve got a project
we need to have the facilities it run.
“We
have staff that come over from our headquarters in Norfolk to start
a project off and then we recruit locally.”
