Jaguar Workers To Vote On Pay Deal
Jaguar
workers are being asked to vote on a new inflation-busting pay
offer described by bosses as “excellent”.
Union
leaders have spent months hammering out the agreement with
management, and the workforce will now be consulted on the
proposals.
Central
to the new package is a basic pay rise of more than 4 per cent.
There will also be another increase of 3.5 per cent, or the rate
of inflation plus 0.5 per cent, whichever is greater, in a
year’s time.
Jaguar
today released a statement say that it awaited the outcome of
the unions' consultation process.
The
statement read:
“After
detailed and lengthy negotiations, Jaguar Cars Limited has
made its final offer, which is currently being presented by
Trade Union representatives to their members.
“We
believe it is an excellent offer and one which reflects
continued collaboration with our workforce.”
There
is an extra day’s holiday for employees who have been with the
company for more than ten years, and team leaders will also get
extra pay.
The
pay offer comes after reports of a split between trade unionists
and management during the negotiations.
There
was fear that the discord at Peugeot could spread to Jaguar’s
Browns Lane plant in Allesley.
But
managers, riding high after a year of record sales, said the
disagreement was just a normal part of the discussion process.
