Struggling Herbert To Quit F1
Jaguar
driver Johnny Herbert has revealed that he plans to quit Formula
One at the end of the season and move into American CART racing.
He
has struggled since the Stewart-Ford team was bought by Jaguar
as the car has been unreliable.
So
far this year he has failed to win a point, despite winning the
European Grand Prix last year.
His
most prolific season was in 1995 when he was number two to
Michael Schumacher at Benetton and won both the British and
Italian grand prix.
Herbert
told a press conference that he will leave the Formula One
paddock to have a go at the Fed-Ex CART championship in the
United States.
He
said:
"Obviously
I've got to sign a contract for a drive, but that's what I
want to do next year.
"We will know what is going on probably within the
next month."
