I am trying to locate a childhood friend of mine. Her name was Rohila
Hamid, we grew up in East Africa together. My family emigrated to the
United Kingdom in 1967, locating ourselves in West London.
I believe Rohila's family also emigrated to the United Kingdom around
about that time, give or take a couple of years later and located
themselves in Coventry.
I would dearly like to make contact with her again. My maiden name was
Irene Weerasiri. |

BISHOP STREET |

I was born at 51 Bishop Street, Coventry in 1923.
Our furniture shop, until the Blitz on the 14 November 1940, was 13
Bishop Street. It was completely gutted and we moved to Leamington Spa
We garaged our van in Pargetter's yard. Most of their Rolls Royce
vehicles, I think, were saved, but our Commer went up in smoke.
I remember the beautiful black ,18 hand, horses that pulled the hearse
on special occasions. |
