ANSTY AERODROME
I am researching into the RAF career of my father, the late Squadron Leader Albert Edward Rumble AFC, with the intention of writing his biography.
My father qualified as an apprentice carpenter/rigger and became one of their best fighter pilots, flying at the Hendon Air Displays and breaking the RAF air gunnery record that he still holds.
In the early part of the war my father was an Instructor at the Central Flying School before becoming an RAF Test Pilot.
My father left the RAF in 1946 as Chief Test Pilot for de Havilland Propellers.
My father was trained as an RAF Instructor in November 1938 at No.9 Elementary & Reserve Flying Training School at
Ansty. In April of 1941 my father was posted to No.2 Central Flying School at Church
Lawford.
I was hoping that someone may be able to give me some ideas as to where I could obtain some information about the histories of these two airfields. I would also like to find photographs of these airfields taken at about the time my father was in post.
If anyone can help in any way I would be very grateful.

I am a Stoke Park Grammar school girl from the early 60's. My maiden name was Carole Brayne and I would love to hear from anyone that went to Stoke Park or lived in Wyken during the 50's and

I now live in Perth, Australia and my married name is Rogers.
I married Keith Leslie Rogers who attended Caludon Castle
school.
