[24 JUN 99] FREEMAN OF COVENTRY
I regularly visit this site as I like to keep up with the
news from around COVENTRY.
I am a Freeman of Coventry and very proud of it. For
economic reasons I left Coventry in 1973 and now live in New Zealand. We settled in
Auckland and the move has proven to be the right one for my family but even so we still
miss Coventry and by visiting your great site we are at least able to see what is
happening over there.
We would love to here from anyone that may know us. I
served my apprenticeship at Gorvic Products - part of Coventry Grinders Ltd. I also worked
at Dunlop, Unbrako, Morris Engines. I was also in The Coventry School of Music Band and
Foleshill Baptist Boys Brigade. I attended Ash Green secondary modern school as did three
generations of the Gilder family.
If anyone knows us or would like to correspond we would be
very happy. My wife's maiden name was Elaine Oughton from Whitmore Park Road in Holbrooks.

[24 JUN 99] LOOKING FOR OLD SCHOOL FRIENDS
I went to Moseley Avenue primary school (1945-50) and
Coundon Court secondary school (1950-55).
Any of the first 120 pupils that moved from Keresley
Prefabs to the new school out there? Anyone remember the fire? Yvonne Arculus where
are you?

[23 JUN 99] MORE WEBCAMS
I just want to say that the on-line
webcam is wonderful. As a graduate of Coventry University, the webcam you located recalls
my memory concerning my living in Coventry.
However, is it possible to locate some other webcams in
other areas, such as the view of the Lady Godiva, Cathedral, West Orchards Shopping
Centre, the Sky Blues, etc.
Kindly consider my opinions. Thank you very much!
Best wishes
Eddie Cheng < bseddie@polyu.edu.hk >
[Editor: We receive many emails enquiring
about the possibility of more webcams - we are very happy that they are well used. We are
currently looking at potential new sites - the first will hopefully be announced in the
next couple of weeks. One problem, of course, is that they do cost money! If anyone
would like to sponsor a webcam please contact us.]
