Intermediate Technology the international development charity working
to build the technical skills of poor people in Africa, Asia and Latin America is
pleased to announce the appointment of its new Policy Director, Mr Andrew Scott.
Mr Scott will develop the advocacy capacity within Intermediate Technology and give
guidance on the strategic direction of the charitys work. He says of his new post:
"To maximise its impact, the charity must ensure that its experience in the role
of appropriate technology in poverty alleviation is used to develop and advocate clear
anti poverty policies. I hope to use this experience to develop an International Advocacy
Strategy which will influence the policy and practice of others to achieve lasting
improvements in the lives of resource poor communities."
Biographical details:
Andrew Scott is an Economist who has lived and worked in Africa, South Asia and Latin
America for the last twenty years. His specialisations include small enterprise and
subsector analysis, technical change in small and medium scale enterprise development, the
economic and environmental aspects of technology change, technology policy, and the
planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects. His writings include Appropriate
Technology: Is it ready for the millennium? and The Environmental Impact of
Small Scale Industries.
