Economics Quality Gives Warwick Perfect ScoreThe
University of Warwick has scored top marks for its teaching yet
again following a visit to the economics department by
inspectors.
It
is the fifth department to get a perfect score of 24 out of 24
for the quality of tutorials and lectures.
Other
departments to hit the maximum have been Sociology, Theatre
Studies, Physics and Warwick's Institute of Education.
The
inspectors praised the fact the calibre of the staff’s
world-renowned academic research, which they noted was of a
"high international standard".
Researchers
from the department frequently crop up in the some of the most
influential business press and television such as The Financial
Times, The Money Programme, and The Economist magazine.
The
last month alone has seen extensive articles in such media by
Warwick Economics professors such as Professor Ian Walker (on
the National lottery bids), Professor Lord Skidelsky on the life
of John Keynes, and Professor Andrew Oswald (on oil prices and
the US and world economy).
University
spokesman Peter Dunn said the verdict by the inspectors was
another example of Warwick’s status as one of the best
universities in the country.
