Firms Ready To Gain On The Internet
Businesses
in Coventry and Warwickshire can advertise their services for free a
when a a special networking website
for the region is launched this week.
Go4gain
has been developed at the University of Warwick as a way of allowing
firms in the West Midlands to link up and swap ideas.
Companies
that register will be able to put details about their services and
activities on the site for free. They will also get access to special
groups and teaching facilities.
The
site, which has been developed with the backing of the CBI will be
launched in London as part of a day lobbying big businesses based in
the capital to recognise the benefits of investing in the West
Midlands.
Experts
from Carnegie Mellon University in America
- where the Lycos search engine was developed - have been
working on the site as part of a £40 million link-up with Warwick
Manufacturing Group.
Ian
McCarthy of WMG said the new site would use a sophisticated database
to build a business library that would group information about certain
companies together.
He
said:
“If
you wanted to look at taxation rules, or for venture capitalist then
you will be able to find them easily.”
There
will also be a regional library, events diary and forum for
announcements or discussions.
The
site will also develop learning areas, where people in the same
industry, or sector can discuss certain issues.
Companies
submitting their information will be asked for contact information,
logos, any pictures of their products, a brief description of their
work and keywords that will help users find them.
The
site www.go4gain.co.uk can be
accessed from Friday.
