Coventry
Technical College has been fortunate to secure a prestigious visit by two leading members
of a Russian Cosmonaut Team. The cosmonauts will be delivering lectures on space
exploration as part of their latest UK tour. Pupils and students from local Schools,
Colleges and Universities will have the opportunity to attend a one hour presentation
which will cover the topic of space travel and supporting technologies.
Members of the public will also have the opportunity to find out about space
exploration at a public presentation on Monday 8 March at 7.30pm in the College Theatre.
Tickets will be available on the night priced at £2.00.
The presentation provides an excellent opportunity for people to increase their
understanding of the subject and offers a rare opportunity to ask questions of two
individuals with direct experience of Space Travel. The cosmonauts will describe from
first-hand experience the excitement of space exploration and living in orbit from
the first flight to the creation of the space station MIR.
The cosmonauts have an enviable reputation in the field of both research and space
travel. Alexander Volkov has several space flights to his name, including acting as Chief
of a Soviet-French team aboard the orbital research complex Mir. Alexander
Martynov worked for several years at Space flight Mission Control and is currently the
Foreign Relations Department Chief for the City of Korolev, which is one of Russias
premier centres for Space Science and Technology.
