Villagers in Bulkington are
being invited along to an open day marking the success of four
years’ hard work in creating a community venue.
Members of the public will be
given a chance to see for themselves the facilities at Bulkington
Village Centre at the end of a week of celebrations marking its
opening.
The site has been transformed
by members of the community from a former school into a place that can
be used by groups and people of all ages.
The open day will be held on
Saturday from 11am to 2pm.
Representatives of the
different groups that use the building will be on hand to explain
their activities and put on demonstrations of their work.
Visitors will also be
encouraged to take part and get involved with the groups in the
future.
People will be able to make
their mark in a block of marble as part of a Millennium sculpture
project, which is on tour in the borough.
BVC director Simon Batten said
the volunteers were looking forward to showing off the fruits of their
labours to residents.
He said:
“This is an event for the
community and we hope as many people as possible will come along and
enjoy it with us.
“We’ve expended an
enormous amount of energy turning the centre into a modern community
venue for the benefit of current and future Bulkington residents.
“It seems fitting that our
last events should give them the opportunity to judge for themselves
how successful we’ve been.
“We believe they’ll be
impressed by what they see; we are certainly proud of our
achievements.
”We want as many people as
possible to benefit from the activities and facilities we provide
and the first step in this process is for people to come along and
see for themselves what we can offer them.”
