Leamingtons Queen
Victoria statue is getting a wash and brush up in time for Christmas.
The statue, which stands outside the Town Hall, was last cleaned ten years ago and
district council staff agreed that she was looking rather grubby.
Scaffolding was put in place this week and Leamington firm Guilda and Harding, using a
water-jet system, will start work on Monday. The work is expected to cost £2,500.
John McGowan, Warwick District Councils policy planning officer said:
"The work should be completed in around ten days, just before the Christmas tree
goes up during the second week in November."
The idea for sprucing the statue up is believed to have come from a staff suggestion
scheme.
