There's
a once in a lifetime chance to enjoy the Big Band sounds of the Blasorchester Kirchheim
brass band when they visit the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington Spa.
The 40-strong band, all the way from the small Bavarian town of Kirchheim, will be
playing a mix of classical, contemporary and traditional music on Thursday 3 June in their
first visit to the UK - and all are welcome.
The concert is part of the 21st birthday celebrations for Warwick company Wanzl UK, a
subsidiary of German-based Wanzl, the world's largest manufacturer of retail equipment.
The band, many of whom work, or are associated with Wanzl's No 3 factory in Kirchheim,
have played together at many German music 'fests' and beer festivals. Leamington Spa will,
however, be their first visit to the UK. They have entered and been placed first in many
music festivals.
The lively repertoire ranges from Hoist, Elgar and Verdi to Armenian Dances by Alfred
Reed and highlights from the hit musical 'Chess'.
Jason Cloke, managing director of Wanzl UK said:
"The band is well known and supported in its home concerts. Their programme will
appeal to many, and we are delighted that they have come to Leamington to mark our
anniversary. We hope their enthusiasm will be matched by a large audience."
Tickets for the event cost £4 for adults and £3 for senior citizens and children and
are available from the Royal Spa Centre Box Office 0l926 334418. Groups are welcome.
A civic reception is being held for the band by the mayor of Stoke on Trent at Keele
University where they will all be staying.
