Two hundred job vacancies in
Coventry are up for grabs in a one-off event to be held in the city
centre this week.
Jobs in retail and at call
centres are to be advertised at a special stall in West Orchards
Sopping Centre on Thursday between 10am and 3pm.
The “New Start - New Job”
stand will be manned by specialist staff who can give people advice
about possible new opportunities for them.
The initiative has been
organised by Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber, Coventry Employment
Service and local training providers CWT after it was discovered that
extra training was needed to allow unemployed people in the area to
fill posts in various categories.
They include Sage
book-keeping, EPOS till operation, cash handling, silver service
waiting and call centre work.
Training and development
adviser Tim Corkery said:
“Everyone who is out of
work at present or looking for a change of career can visit our
stand and discuss local employment opportunities with an expert.
“Hosting
this event at West Orchards will enable people who are shopping to
pop up and access real job opportunities and discuss possible
training routes, as easily as buying a loaf of bread or a
newspaper.”
