Water And Electricity Do Mix, Say Severn Trent
Water
firm Severn Trent has taken the plunge into the power market by
expanding its services to include gas and electricity supplies.
Customers
are being promised a cheaper deal from today. They are being offered
gas immediately, and electricity from December.
Managing
director Brian Duckworth said:
"We
already supply eight million people with vital water and waste water
services at some of the lowest prices in the country.
“Now
we can extend that value and our reputation for quality and
reliability to gas and soon electricity.”
Multinational
energy supplier Amerada, which already supplies 400,000 homes in the
UK with energy, will partner Severn Trent Water to supply the gas and
electricity.
Mr
Duckworth added:
"This
is a logical extension of the services we already provide, bringing
the full extent of 'essentials' to homes and businesses at first
across the Midlands, but in due course nationally too.
"This
means that customers can relax in the knowledge that they are
getting a great deal on prices, matched with Severn Trent Water's
reputation for reliability.”
"Of
course while we're adding gas and electricity to the core value for
money services our customers can get from Severn Trent, we'll still
be working hard to make sure they continue to get plentiful safe
supplies of water, and top quality protection for the environment
from their waste water.
"This
shows that while others are talking about competition in the water
industry, we at Severn Trent are getting on and making it happen.
“We
signed the first ever national water services deal with Northern
Foods last summer, developing the pure water side of the
business.”
