Coventry-based
builder G W Deeley Ltd has enjoyed a bumper start to 1999 landing over £5 million
of new contracts.
The company, which has its headquarters in Torrington Avenue and divisions in
Northampton and Aylesbury, has started major projects in Southam, Bicester, Birmingham and
Hemel Hempstead.
It is building a new £1.2 million production and office complex for Dywidag-Systems
International Ltd, which is relocating within Southam.
The company, which has been in the town for 25 years, is a specialist supplier to the
civil engineering industry.
Gerry Robbins, managing director of the German-owned firm said:
"At the moment we are operating from several different buildings so we will be
moving under one roof, which will improve our efficiency and generally make life
easier."
The 45,000 sq ft building is due to be completed in the late summer.
G W Deeleys Aylesbury division has also secured a £2 million contract to build a
new distribution warehouse and headquarters for London and Metropolitan Estates at
Bicester Park, Bicester.
The building, which will be finished by June, will be occupied by Aura Books Ltd, which
is moving to the park from Middlesex.
Deeley has also secured contracts with two neighbouring businesses on the Buckingham
Industrial Park.
Caravell UK, manufacturer and supplier of chilling and freezing equipment, whose
headquarters were built by Deeley in 1997, is expanding its operation with a new 24,000 sq
ft warehouse extension, while bakery products firm Puratos is doing the same with a 10,000
sq ft extension.
Deeleys Northampton division is refurbishing three floors of an office building
for the Department for the Environment and the Regions in Hemel Hempstead, a contract
worth £730,000, and constructing an £200,000 extension to a switch building for Cable
and Wireless at Birmingham.
G W Deeleys minor works division is also servicing repeat orders for Britvic,
Solaglass, SPS and Shipley.
Managing director Peter Goodgame said:
"We are delighted with the way the year has started. The picture looks very
buoyant with this new work and several other firm enquiries.
"It is always very pleasing to pick up new work but equally rewarding when past
clients come back to us for fresh projects. It proves the quality of the work we do."
