Work on a Warwickshire caravan
park has led a relationship between the Coventry-based Benfield Group
and a local client past the £10 million mark.
The
construction company has completed a £2 million project in Warmington,
near Banbury, for businessman Keith Fletcher.
Mr Fletcher built up
television rental firm Fletcher Rentals before selling out to a
national chain, then established the Victoria Careotels - a string of
residential and nursing homes - before again being bought out.
He has now created a £2
million caravan centre at Warmington.
Clive Benfield, chairman of
the Benfield Group, said the Caravanland project has broken the £10
million barrier.
He said:
"This is the 10th
venture we have worked on for Keith. We have undertaken projects on
his caravan park in the Cotswolds, worked on his Careotels and have
now developed Caravanland.
"He is one of the most
thorough business people I have met and I am certain that this
latest venture will be as successful as his others.
“It has been a long and
mutually beneficial association which has seen us carry out various
projects and hopefully it will carry on in the years to come."
Caravanland, which stands on
the site of a former filling station, includes indoor and outdoor
showrooms, an accessory store, awning department and service centre
and has been developed from scratch.
Mr Fletcher said:
"The project has taken
around 18 months to complete and we are delighted with the results.
As we have been starting afresh we have been able to tailor the
centre exactly to meet customers' needs.
“There are other sales
centres in the region but we are able to display 20 caravans indoors
which is very unusual.
"We have established a
business to cater for all the needs of caravanners. People can buy
everything from a new van to a mantle for a gas light and it is all
under one roof.
“We are starting with a
staff of seven but I expect that to double in the not too distant
future."
Mr Fletcher has also
commissioned his own caravan which will be sold exclusively through
Caravanland.
He added:
"Having seen so many
caravans at our site there were several things left off most models
so we have had our own developed under the name Vanlander."
