Artel Rubber Sets National First
A
Warwickshire company which supplies rubber for Morgan cars has set a
new pace by becoming the first firm to receive a national award.
Artel
Rubber in Wellesbourne was the first firm in the country to reach a
new standard for the Investors In People award.
The
company was assessed for the standard on the same day last month that
the new award was launched by a government minister.
The
firm, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary, this month and
employs 42 people, has a wide range of customers for its rubber
products. It has made goods for Formula One racing, the food industry
and has even made hoses for body scanning equipment.
The
company is planning to move to a new 15,000 sq ft base on Wellesbourne
Park.
Chairman
and managing director Jeff Arnold said he was delighted to receive the
award.
He
said:
“This
new Investors In People award is recognition of the hard work and
effort put in by everyone who works here, particularly over the past
twelve months.
“By
working towards the new standard we have solidified our structure,
got a lot more out of our workforce in terms of production and
morale and made sure that we retain the quality workforce we have in
place at Artel.”
Charles
Morgan, of the famous Morgan Motor Company, added:
“Here
at Morgan we only use the nest, and Artel have shown that they are
indeed the best hose providers on the market.
The
firm was supported through the Investors In People process by advisers
at Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber.
Ruth
Spellman, chief executive of Investors In people UK said it was
pleasing that a small to
medium sized business was the first to be recognised against the new
standard.
She
said:
“The
recent changes made to the standard have been driven by the needs of
employers and in particular the needs of smaller organisation.
“In
practice this means that it is written in clearer language, focuses
more on the results of an organisation’s actions and offers
methods of assessment that do away with unnecessary paperwork.”
