You
know what it’s like, no sooner as the kid’s have gone back
to school than the shops start getting their tinsel and cards
out in preparation for the festive season. Today, the Royal Spa
Centre went one better by providing a special preview show of
their Christmas pantomime Dick Whittington.
Schools,
community groups and residents turned out in force to enjoy a
free showcase of musical and comedy talent.
Vicki
Lee Taylor, who starred in CITV’s Big Meg, Little Meg, sung
Just Arrived from the musical Copacabana and danced her way
through the Liza Minelli number Steppin’ Out. Vicki will be
appearing in this Saturday’s edition of Star for a Night with
Jayne MacDonald on BBC1.
Following
up from playing Buttons in last year’s panto, the comedy
entertainer Wink Taylor kept the children interested with some
magic tricks.
There
was also an interview with Eve Steele who
played the psycho Freshco’s
boss Anne Malone in Coronation Street.
In a contrast
to her evil Corrie role, Eve will be playing the Good Fairy.
Since leaving the soap, Eve has appeared in the ITV dramas Peak
Practice and Always and Everyone.
The
preview was rounded off by the singer Mark Rattray, who has been
touring in the title role of Lanza – The Last Serenade for the
last two years. Mark, spent time serving on the wards of
Coventry and Warwickshire hospitals as a nurse before he found
fame back in 1990 after winning Opportunity Knocks.
The
cast also includes the singer Maggie Moone (Dick) who
unfortunately couldn’t attend today due to the ongoing fuel
crisis.
Dick
Whittington runs from 21 December 2000 to 8 January 2001.
Tickets are available from the Box Office 01926 334418.
Also, keep an eye out for prizes of Family Tickets in the CWN
Daily Competition over the next few weeks...
