Apollo To Re-open
After Blaze
The
curtain is set to rise in a Leamington cinema two months after it was
heavily damaged by arsonists.
More
than £250,000 damage was caused by the blaze on 17 April after a fire
was started in the lobby area.
Since
then the cinema in Dormer Place has been closed for repairs and it
will re-open on 23 June.
The
re-fitted cinema, which was devastated by the Easter floods in 1998,
will have a new café-bar called Trailers, a sound system and a new
reception area.
General
Manager Gary Stevens said:
“Whilst
the fire was a very unfortunate occurrence, we are glad to put the
matter behind us and concentrate on offering the best we can for
movie-goers in the area.
“We
have created a superb venue and one that I know film fans will
enjoy.”
Films
that will go on show when the 7000-seater cinema re-opens include
Martin Lawrence in Big Momma’s House and war film U-571.
The
long-awaited Chicken Run by the creators of Wallace and Gromit will
start screening on 30 June, and Tom Cruise will star in Mission
Impossible 2 from 7 July.
