Toasts £300,000 Golden Goose
Bosses
at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre are celebrating the success of this
year’s panto – the first by director Bob Eaton.
More
than 36,000 people came to see the panto starring BBC WM’s Malcom
Boyden.
Ticket
sales exceeded expectation by topping £300,000 and early analysis
suggests that 22 per cent of customers were first-time visitors to the
Belgrade.
Many
of them travelled from outside the city and more visitors than ever
booked on the internet.
Bob
Eaton, director of the theatre, who wrote the this year’s panto for
the first time, said:
“I’m
delighted at the success of Mother Goose. I think we’ve proved
that the Belgrade panto tradition is still alive and well and in
safe hands for the future.
“Malcolm
has done a fantastic job in stepping into the role of Dame, as have
all the talented and dedicated team who work so hard to make the
Belgrade panto simply the best.
“We’re
all looking forward to next panto season hen we’ll be tackling one
of great all-time panto favourites – Dick Whittington.
