Brave Jack Gets Award For Chasing Thief
A
Coventry youngster is to receive a special award for courage
after he gave chase to a thief who had stolen a woman's handbag.
Jack
Biggins, of Allesley, was only 10 years old when he heard a
woman cry "stop that man, he's got my handbag".
Showing
great courage the lad immediately gave chase along Binley Road.
Despite
Jack's efforts and that of the victim, the man escaped but was
later arrested and put before the court and young Jack was asked
to attend court with other witnesses to give evidence.
In
recommending him for an award, Acting Sergeant Jacqui Mircetic,
from Chace Avenue, said:
"Jack
has shown courage and fortitude beyond his years both at the
time of the incident and later at court.
He fully deserves recognition."
The
Chief Constable agreed and Jack is due to receive a special
award at the commendation ceremony on Tuesday 20 March for his
"integrity and bravery".
The
award consists of a framed certificate and a gift of his choice
to the value of £25.
