Police in Coventry are taking
to the streets of Spon End and Radford next week to try and reduce
crime and disorder in the area.
The high-profile campaign is
being launched as part of a force-wide initiative to try and make
communities in the Wets Midlands safer.
Uniformed officers will be
meeting and greeting members of the local community as they pound the
beat.
Sgt Craig McNaney said:
“We have already have
strong links with members of these communities and work closely with
representatives from the local authority, but we want to build on
these links.
“We hope people will feel
free to stop and talk to us as we walk around their community and
tell us their concerns.
“We also want to encourage
people to contact us with any information that might help us to
crackdown on crime and reduce the fear of crime in the city."
Anyone with information can
ring Sgt McNaney at Little Park Street police station or call
Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
He added:
“We
want people to get to know us and treat us as part of their
communities, By taking part in this high-profile campaign we hope to
create communities here all of us can live and work."
