The fight against crime in
Coventry has received a boost with the opening of a new police base in
the city.
The Tile Hill sector house
will allow beat bobbies and detectives to station themselves in the
heart of the community they serve.
The building in Tile Hill
Lane, which is administered from Little Park Street police station, was
opened today by Assistant Chief Constable Matt Baggot.
It will become the base of
sector Inspector Nick Halligan and his dedicated team of officers.
He said:
“We are extremely pleased
to be sited in the heart of the Tile Hill community where we hope to
forge many new links and work in partnership with the local
residents.
“My officers have already
built up good working relationships with many people and intend to
build on these successes.”
Insp Halligan added that while
it will be manned 24-hours a day it is more of a base than a
police station.
He said:
“We will not have a front
office or the facilities to give members of the public the type of
service on offer from all the Coventry OCUs.
“Those
needing this type of help should still contact Little Park Street
and of course dial 999 in the event of an emergency.
