The County Fire Officer, Wallace
Redford QFSM, is pleased to announce that the annual Long Service and Good Conduct Medal
and Award Ceremony will be held at the Fire Station, Warwick Street, Leamington Spa on
Friday 16 October 1998 at 8pm.
The medals will be presented by Her Majestys Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire, Mr
Martin Dunne.
The Long Service and Good Conduct medals are awarded to firefighters who have completed
20 years meritorious service.
The medal recipients receiving their awards are as follows;
- Sub Officer Andrew Lymn Stratford Upon Avon
- Leading Fire-fighter Desmond Crow Studley
- Leading Fire-fighter Philip Jones Rugby
- Leading Fire-fighter John Taylor Bedworth
- Fire-fighter Michael Broadaway Bedworth
- Fire-fighter Norman Henderson Coleshill
- Fire-fighter Andrej Nisevic Nuneaton
In addition to these presentations County Fire Officer Commendations will be presented
to:
- Fire-fighter David Bennett from Henley in Arden for his actions during the rescue of a
bullock
- Fire-fighter Stephen Bolt from Leamington Spa for his actions during the rescue of a
horse
- Miss Vikki Hartshorn from Service Headquarters for her meritorious actions during the
Easter floods.
The Retained Availability Competition for the part-time fire station that has remained
available for the longest period of time throughout the year has joint winners, both Fenny
Compton and Studley Fire Stations achieved a 100% record. This presentation will be made
by Councillor Tim Naylor, Chairman of the Emergency Services Sub-Committee.
The final awards will be presented by Councillor Ray Sweet, Chairman of Warwickshire
County Council, to the winners and runners up in the Inter Station Garden Competition for
the best Fire Station garden this year.
The overall winner is Studley Fire Station, who also won the part-time fire station
award with Alcester Fire Station as this years runners up. In the wholetime Fire
Station category Rugby Fire Station were the winners, in addition to this they will
receive the award for the most improved station garden, and Nuneaton Fire Station were
runners up.
