Forces Combine To Attract New Recruits

The internet, newspapers, cinemas and poster are all being used across the area as part of a blitz by police to recruit more officers.

Warwickshire Constabulary and West Midlands Police have linked up with five other forces in the region for an advertising campaign to promote a career in the force.

A new website www.positiveaboutpolicing.com has been launched to accompany the push which aims to recruit fresh blood.

Special emphasis is being placed on attracting members of minority ethnic groups and women to come forward.

Julie Middleton, force recruitment manager for Warwickshire Police, said:

“Although we are pleased with the response so far to the national campaign, we felt that a more local approach would encourage others to come forward.

“Becoming a police office can open up a wide range of opportunities whether working in the community, as a detective or striving for senior management.

“It is a progressive, modern and challenging career and we need people with a wide range of skills and experience to apply.”

Warwickshire is taking on 92 new recruits this year, with hundreds more across the region. A recruitment hotline has been set up on 0800 300796.
