JUN 00] WARWICKSHIRE CONSTABULARY NEWS
New Chief Constable Being Lined Up
The
new chief constable for Warwickshire should be announced early this
week.
The
force is holding two days of interviews on Monday and Tuesday, with
the new chief named before Wednesday morning.
There
are four candidates on the shortlist – three deputy chief constables
and an assistant chief constable from one of the biggest forces in the
country. All of them have successful and extensive experience at
senior level.
John
Rennie, chair of the Warwickshire Police Authority, said:
“The
interviews have been designed to test a variety of skills. We will
be putting candidates though their paces with a series of
challenging tasks over the two days.
“These
will include: small group interviews, traditional interview with the
full committee, seen and unseen tests on operational issues and a
comprehensive medical interview.”
The
vacancy was caused after the previous leader, Andrew Timpson, (right)
was forced out after he faced a series of allegations was made about
his conduct.
He
was on sick leave for several months ahead of a report about his
conduct was given to the police authority which decided he was unfit
for the job.
Mr
Timpson had only been in post year. Ironically, he succeeded Peter
Joslin who had been the longest serving policeman and longest serving
chief constable in the UK.
Mick
Brewer has been acting chief constable in the interim.
