A man was robbed at knifepoint as he was sitting in
his car at traffic lights in Coventry yesterday.
The incident happened in Red Lane, Foleshill, at the junction
with Stoney Stanton Road, at around 11.30pm.
The 23 year old man from the Holbrooks area of Coventry, was
driving his green Daewoo Nubira along Red Lane when he stopped at
the traffic lights, intending to turn right into Stoney Stanton
Road.
While he was waiting at the lights a woman opened the passenger
door and sat in the front seat with the door open and produced a 5
inch bladed folding knife. She held it to the man's upper left arm,
causing a slight cut, and demanded money.
The attacker took the man's wallet containing about £30 cash and
a packet of cigarettes from the centre console, then got out of the
car and headed towards some telephone boxes on the opposite side of
Stoney Stanton Road.
The man then turned left into Stoney Stanton Road, stopped, got
out of his car and attempted to flag down a passing taxi to get
help. However, the offender herself jumped into the taxi and it is
believed she was taken to the Hillfields area, near to Phoenix
House.
The woman is described as white, 5'8", slim, and aged in her
late 20s. She has long black, slightly curly hair, and was wearing
dark red shiny velvet trousers, a light coloured top, and a dark
denim or leather jacket.
