Pensioner Injured In
Street Robbery
A 75 year old woman suffered two
black eyes and other injuries after she was pushed over by a
robber who stole her bag in Coventry yesterday.
The woman was in North Street,
Stoke at about 10am yesterday, having just been to Coventry Street
post office near to the junction with Milton Street.
She was walking along when someone
pushed her to the ground and grabbed her shopping bag. The
shopping bag contained about £80 in cash and other personal
items.
The woman suffered two black eyes,
a swollen nose, a cut to her finger and grazing to her knees.
She was taken to Coventry and
Warwickshire Hospital for treatment which included stitches to her
hand and she was later released.
There is so far no description of
the offender and police at Chace Avenue are appealing for any
witnesses who saw the attack to call them.
A police spokesman said:
"This was a vicious attack
on an elderly lady who, was not only physically injured, but is
now very traumatised by the incident.
"We need to trace this
offender and would like to hear from anyone who saw the actual
incident or who may have seen someone acting suspiciously around
North Street or in the vicinity of the Coventry Street post
office."
