CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Daylight Shooting In
Radford Street
A 27 year old Birmingham man is
recovering in hospital after being shot in the leg in a Coventry
street yesterday afternoon.
The incident occurred in St
Nicholas Street, Radford at about 3.20pm yesterday afternoon.
The victim is believed to have been
a passenger in a brown old style Rover car.
As he was getting out of the
vehicle, it is believed he was shot by someone who was also in the
car. The weapon was believed to be a pistol type of firearm. The
car then drove off.
The victim's condition was today
described as serious but stable with non-life threatening
injuries. He has not been well enough to give police full details
of his attacker.
DI Debbie Harrod at Little Park
Street said today:
"We are not clear on the
motive for this attack at this stage but our enquiries are
continuing.
"We are appealing for any
witnesses, especially anyone who saw the brown Rover car in the
area or anyone who heard a firearm being discharged.
"We would also like to speak
to anyone who was waiting at a bus stop outside the Merrick
Lodge Hotel around 3pm yesterday, even if they did not see
anything suspicious.
"The location is a very busy
road and bus route and anyone who saw or heard anything
suspicious is asked to contact us in confidence on 024 7653
9010."
