Petrol Station Staff
Hit By Robbers
Cashiers
at a motorway service station were hit by raiders who escaped with
cash and phonecards yesterday.
Three
men walked into the petrol station at the Corley services on the
northbound of the M6 at 1am, while another waited in ac car
outside.
One
man, aged between 18 and 20, who is 6ftm thin, and was wearing a
dark woolly hat, blue jeans and a white cotton jacket, appeared to
be holding a cosh.
He
hit one of the male cashiers with the cosh.
His
accomplice, aged 18 to 25, who was wearing a light-coloured
jacket, then struck another cashier.
The
third man, who is 18 to 26, 6ft, thin and was wearing a white or
cream hooded top, stayed by the door.
The
attackers took money and phonecards from the till and escaped in a
white E-reg Vauxhall Astra. A similar car was later found burnt
out outside the Colliery Club in Bennett’s Road North, Keresley.
Forensic
officers have examined the vehicle. The cashiers were both treated
for cuts and bruises at George Eliot Hospital.
