Farmers Angry At
Thoughtless Walkers
Police
in Warwickshire have been inundated with calls from angry farmers
complaining about walkers breaching the ban on using footpaths in
the county.
All
public rights of way and bridlepaths have been closed by emergency
rules brought in to stop the spread of foot and mouth disease.
Farmers
and livestock owners have been ringing police all weekend
concerned and angry that some people are ignoring these
regulations.
Police
urged people to pay attention to notices banning people from using
the paths, and warned them that trading standards officers could
bring prosecutions against anyone found breaking the order.
A
spokeswoman warned:
“Police
will pass on details of anyone who does breach these
regulations.”
People
who are caught risk a fine of up to £5,000 if convicted.
