CRIMES, FIRES & ACCIDENTS
Post Office Attacked
By Masked Men
Robbers
smashed their way through a security screen in a post office
before escaping with a large sum of cash yesterday afternoon.
Two
men appeared at the Wood Street post office in Rugby at 3.30pm and
used a large concrete block to shatter the protective screen
shielding staff.
They
then reached over and removed quantity of cash and escaped.
The
female sub-postmistress and shop assistant were said to be
extremely shocked by the incident, but were not hurt during the
attack.
Both
men wore balaclavas and dark, or grey clothing. One is said to be
5ft 6ins, his accomplice slightly shorter.
A
silver Mitsubishi estate car was later found abandoned in Clifton
Road. It is thought that this was used as the escape vehicle.
