Armed Robbers Escape
With £19,000 In City
Robbers
armed with baseball bats attacked a Securicor guard before making
off with £19,000 outside a Coventry supermarket yesterday.
He
was set upon from behind outside Morrison in Skipworth Road,
Binley at 6.10pm.
The
offenders, who were both wearing balaclavas, grabbed the money box
he was carrying and go made off in a red VW Golf registration
F944VVM.
The
car was later found abandoned with the money in Willowherb Close,
Binley.
The
offenders had driven over the cashbox to try and break it open,
and had activated the dye inside the container.
This
made the money useless, and the crooks fled the scene.
Police
are looking for any witnesses, particularly anyone who saw the
attackers fleeing the car.
Securicor
have offered a £5,000 reward for information leading to the
arrest and conviction of the offenders.
