Overdosed Teenager
Attacks Ambulance Crew
Paramedics
called to treat a teenager who had taken a drug overdose were
attacked by the patient, who then stole their ambulance.
The
19-year-old was being treated in the Camp Hill area of Nuneaton at
5.30pm when he became violent.
He
threatened them with a baseball bat and forced them to hand over
the keys to the ambulance.
The
police were called and the teenager rammed their car
before driving off in the ambulance.
The
ambulance was found a short distance away abandoned in Laburnum
Grove. The teenager was traced by police and taken to the George
Eliot Hospital.
He
is said to be in a “poorly but stable” condition. Two officers
in the police car were treated for whiplash injuries.
Both
the ambulance and the police car suffered extensive damage.
