Motorcyclist Killer
Tracked With TV Appeal
A
TV appeal to track the lorry driver who dragged a motorcyclist
along a motorway, and only stopped to throw away the wreckage, has
thrown up new leads.
More
than 150 people called the BBC’s Crimewatch programme and
Warwickshire police last night with information about the incident
on the M40 in November.
Ronald
Cobbledick, aged 43, from Rossendale in Lancashire was on the M40
southbound just before junction 16 when he was killed at 6.30am.
His
Piaggio motor scooter was hit by a lorry driver and dragged along
the motorway.
Police
say the driver of the lorry only stopped to remove the mangled
wreckage of the bike from the nearside of his cab, and drove off
again.
Mr
Cobbledick was killed from his injuries and police set up a
special incident room to investigate.
Insp
Colin Rust thanked the callers for the response, and said that
there had been a positive lead from the fresh appeal.
He
added:
“We
would still appeal for anyone who may have information, no
matter how small that is to contact our incident room on 01926
415257.”
Witness
can also call the Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.
