Coventry Woman
Struck With Iron Bar
A
59-year-old Coventry woman was hit with an iron bar and dragged
across a street by a robber who stole her handbag.
The
attacker struck between 6.50pm and 7.10pm yesterday when he
approached the women from behind in Holbrook Lane, near Everdon
Road.
He
demanded that she hand over her bag, but she refused and crossed
the road and called for help.
The
assailant followed and produced an iron bar. He hit her on the arm
and grabbed the bag and pulled at it.
The
woman, who comes from Coventry, was dragged across the road before
finally losing her grip.
Her
attacker fled down an alleyway towards Pembroke Close with the
black leather-effect handbag. It contained a green purse, which
had just £8 in it.
The
woman suffered bruising, a cut and swelling to her right arm, cuts
to her hand and a graze to her knee.
Police
are appealing for witnesses to come forward. The robber is white,
aged between 20 and 30, 5ft 6ins. He wore a white or grey hooded
top and a dark woolly hat.
