Grandmother Punched
As Pension Is Robbed
A
Coventry grandmother was punched in the face as a robber stole her
Christmas pension money.
Gladys
Carradus was attacked near her home in Starley Road in the city
centre at 12.45pm.
The
attacker punched her in her the face, causing her to fall to the
ground. She suffered a broken top set of teeth, a broken bone in
her right eye and a badly swollen and bruised face.
The-71-year-old
also had her handbag containing her £78 pension stolen.
Concerned
detectives at Little Park Street police station have organised a
collection to replace the money, and are appealing for witnesses.

Theresa Fraser said:
“This
was a vicious attack where a totally unnecessary amount of
violence was used. Somebody must have seen this offender running
from the scene as he headed off towards the ring road.”
The
assailant is black, aged about 20, with shoulder-length
dreadlocks, a three-quarter length anorak-type coat with a hood.
