Brave Assistant Foils Robbers

Three offenders grappled with a shop assistant at a Coventry supermarket as they tried to steal her till yesterday.

The youths, who were all black and wore dark clothing, burst into Gillenson’s supermarket in Gayer Street, Bell Green at 4.20pm.

They tried to grab the till, but the 53-year-old shop assistant held onto it.

Following the struggle, the attackers grabbed cigarettes and ran out of the store.

The woman suffered some minor bruising to her arms and shock following the incident.
