Two Men Killed In
Road Accidents
Two
men in their 90s were killed at the weekend when they hit by cars
in separate accidents at the weekend.
The
first accident happened at 9.45pm on Friday on the A3400 Stratford
Road near the junction with Moss Lane in Newbold-on-Stour.
A
Fiat Uno was in collision with a 90-year-old man, who died from
his injuries at the scene. He has not yet been named by police.
On
Saturday two men were crossing the road on the A429 in Barford at
8pm when they collided with a black Vauxhall Vectra.
Frederick
Byerly, aged 92, from Sandy Way, Barford, was killed as he crossed
the road.
Another
man, Patrick Lloyd, aged 52 from Wasperton, was taken to Warwick
Hospital suffering from fractures to his lower limbs. He was today
said to be in a “stable” condition.
The
driver of the car, a 35-year-old man, suffered shock, but did not
require hospital treatment. He was travelling towards
Wellesbourne.
The
accident happened just days after the village was finally granted
a bypass after more than 20 years of campaigning by residents.
They have argued that the road is unsafe for residents because of
the amount of traffic passing through.
Witnesses
to either crash are being urged to call traffic police at Greys
Mallory on 01926 415000.
