Cyclist Dies In Road Crash 

A woman was killed when she collided with a car as she cycled with a group of friends yesterday.

The 46-year-old from the Edgbaston area of Birmingham was cycling along the B4439 Old Warwick Road between Lapworth and Hockley Heath, near the junction with Glasshouse Lane at 1pm.

She was in a group of cyclists heading towards Hockley Heath when she collided with a Saab 93 heading in the opposite direction.

The woman was taken to Warwick hospital suffering from serious head injuries, and died shortly afterwards.

Police said the identity of the woman is not yet being released. Any witnesses should call 01926 415000.
 

UPDATE: The woman was later named as Catherine Heighway, of Greville Drive, Edgbaston.
