Mystery As White Van Man Found Injured

Detectives are trying to solve the mystery of man found in his van on a country road with head injuries.

Andrew Read, aged 32, of Atherstone, was discovered in his white F reg Ford Escort van on the A444 near Twycross in Leicestershire at 3.45am on Monday.

He was suffering from head injuries consistent with being assaulted, and is currently in a “stable” condition in hospital.

Leicestershire police are appealing to people who may know Mr Read’s movements that night, or who may know what happened to him, to come forward.

Det Supt Bob Small said:

“We have already made some enquiries in the Atherstone area, but we want to speak to people may know Mr Read and may have any idea as to who may have assaulted him or the reason why.

“I would urge people to come forward, even if they think what they have to tell us may not be of great importance.”
