Pensioner Stuck Under Wheels Of Bus

A Coventry pensioner was trapped under the wheels of a bus after an accident at a busy junction in the city.

The 81-year-old suffered severe leg injuries after being struck by the single-decker vehicle yesterday at 4.30pm. She was kept in at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital for treatment.

The accident happened at the junction between Hearsall Common and Earlsdon Avenue North in Earlsdon.

It is thought that the woman stepped into the road as the bus was turning into Earlsdon Avenue North.

The 36-year-old driver of the bus was uninjured. Traffic police are appealing for witnesses, especially the passengers on the bus, to come forward and call them on 024 7653 9040.
