Knife Man Brushes
Off Woman To Strike Again
A
knife-wielding robber struck for the second time in a week when he
threatened a shopkeeper defending herself with a broom in
Leamington.
The
man spent sometime in Leader News in Rugby Road, Leamington
looking around before he made his way to the counter yesterday at
4.10pm.
By
this time he had aroused the suspicions of the woman running the
shop and she went out to the rear store to get a broom.
When
she came back into the shop she found him with his hand in the
till.
The
woman thrust the broom towards him, but the attacker pulled a
six-inch knife with a black handle out and waved it at her.
He
then escaped and ran off towards Cedar Mews and Warwick Place. He
managed to get some money, but police say they do not yet know the
exact sum.
Police
are linking this to an attack on
Jet petrol station in Warwick on Saturday, where £540 was
stolen.
The
attacker is 18-20, white and was wearing a woolly hat, a black
top, jeans and had a black scarf tied around his face and grey
gloves.
Anyone
with information about the attack should call 01926 415000.
