Parachutist Hurt In
Horror Airport Fall
A
parachutist was rescued from Coventry Airport on Saturday after he
crash-landed on a hangar.
The
man, who broke his shoulder in the fall, was stranded on the
building at Baginton at 11.15am on Saturday.
Police
and fire crews were called, and climbed up on the roof to reassure
him that he was safe.
A
hydraulic platform was then brought in to take him to the ground.
It is thought that he has also suffered internal injuries.
An
air ambulance was called to take him to Selly Oak hospital in
Birmingham where he was treated for his injuries and kept in
overnight for observation.
Fire
officers said the man’s injuries could have been a lot worse if
he had landed on the concrete of the runway.
The
Health and Safety Executive have been informed following reports
that he may have jumped from as low as 1,000ft.
