Police Hunt Lorry In
Motorcyclist Death
Police
in Warwickshire have launched a nationwide hunt for the driver of
a lorry involved in a motorway crash where a motorcyclist died.
The
incident happened in driving wind and rain on the M40 at 6.25am
yesterday on the southbound carriageway between junction 16 and
the intersection with the M42.
Police
believe the red Piaggio 124cc was hit from behind, but the driver
of the HGV thought to be involved did not stop and has not yet
been traced.
The
motorcyclist, a middle-aged man from Lancashire, suffered serious
multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers
are appealing for anyone with information to come forward to help
find the lorry.
Early
tests have revealed that the lorry had some blue paint on the can.
It is possible that the lorry suffered some damage to its front
nearside, and possible a damaged wing mirror.
People
with information should contact PC John Townsend or PC Mick
Ricketts on 01926 415000.
