Men In Masks Rob
Rural Post Office
Masked men on
motorbikes raided a rural post office in North Warwickshire making
the owner flee in terror.
The trio struck
at Fillongley, near Nuneaton, about 4.30pm yesterday and police
say someone must have seen them arrive or leave the scene in
Coventry Road.
They smashed up
part of the shop and the owner got out of the way and left them to
take their haul.
Insp Colin Russt
said:
“It is
thought three men approached the premises on a motorbike from
the direction of Church Lane.
“The
offenders entered the post office wearing balaclavas and smashed
the glass screen separating staff from customers.
“The
proprietor fled immediately to another room for protection. And
the offenders stole a quantity of money before leaving the scene
on the same motorbike and travelling back in the direction of
Church Lane.
“This was a
particularly nasty incident carried out in broad daylight.
“Fortunately
nobody was hurt. But we are confident someone must have seen
something of this unfolding.”
