Swoop In Armed Raid Hunt
Several
people were in police custody today following an early morning
raid in connection with firearms offences in the Stoke Aldermoor
area of Coventry.
Detectives
and uniformed officers from Chace Avenue executed search warrants
in The Boxhill at 6am.
Three
men and a woman were awaiting interview after being taken into
custody at the scene.
The
operation was launched following a series of incidents in the
Stoke Aldermoor area in recent weeks.
Police
have been investigating an armed robbery on a post office van on
21 August, an incident at the Sphinx club on 27 August and a raid
a Victoria Wines on 3 September.
DI
Maggie Evans said:
“The
operation should send a clear message to offenders that police
are acting positively action to clamp down on armed criminality
in Coventry.”
No
firearms are believed to have been found in the raid, but
enquiries are continuing.
