Man Killed After Elephant Trampling
A man from Rugby
on an African safari was tramped to death by an elephant.
Edward Harrison,
28, was on the second day of a trip when he was killed in the
Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya.
It is thought he
got up early on Sunday and wandered off to take pictures of the
wild animals.
But others were
alerted by an elephant trumpeting loudly, and they found Mr
Harrison’s body.
His mother,
Carolyn Thompson, said in a statement:
“Edward was a
wonderful son and man. He was very loving, had a huge number of
friends and was a real team player.
“At the same
time he had courage, determination and enthusiasm for life.”
Mr Harrison went
to Uppingham School in Rutland and graduated from St John’s
College, Cambridge in 1995 with a degree in engineering.
He was among 32
people on the first leg of an expedition from Cambridge to Cape
Town organised by the Cambridge University Officer Training Corps.
